Chem/Food. Must have 3+ years of exp. as a GC-MS Operator and Quality
Controller in manufacturing of fragrances/aroma compounds/ (flavours)
and the application thereof in the perfume/cosmetic/toiletry/household
chemical industries. Must be able to match fragrances, source molecules,
ensure quality according to ISO 9001:2015, recognise problems, and
take corrective action. Must be pro-active, very focused on QC and
matching, and a strong team player and communicator to collaborate
daily with Manufacturing, Sales, and Procurement. Must prepare fragrance
and other samples, possibly using solvent extraction techniques such
as SPME arrow, identify different substances in test samples, and
analyse, interpret, and quantify fragrances using GC-MS. Must interpret
quantification of fragrances with relevant software on PC, and provide
an analytical report on the fragrances made in the laboratory.Must
maintain an up-to-date knowledge of fragrance ingredients and components
within the market, keep a detailed library, and add new fragrance
ingredients/components to library accordingly. Responsible for instrumentation,
general and advance maintenance and performance and trend monitoring
of the instructions carried out. Must analyse samples, perform maintenance
and troubleshooting, develop analytical methods as necessary and identify

BTech/BSc/MS./PhD
Chemistry; Comp.Lit. Eight (8) + years exp in analysing chemical composition
of flavours & fragrances, understand different columns used in
GC-MS/operate/maintain GC-MS & Flame Ionisation Detector (FID),incl.
calibration/consumables/troubleshooting/interpret chromatograms/identify
compounds /understand flavour/fragrance chemistry/raw materials/their
properties. Able to give meticulous attention to detail/be able to
troubleshoot instrument issues/ solve analytical problems/have communication/report
writing skills/effectively liaise technical teams/present findings.
Must extract/purify/prepare flavour/ fragrance samples for GC-MS analysis,
incl. solvent extraction/solid phase microextraction (SPME)/analyse
chromatograms/ identify and quantify volatile compounds/interpret
spectral data using spectral libraries and retention indices. Ensure
all laboratory practices adhere to safety guidelines and quality standards.
Work closely with technical teams/ Flavourists/ Perfumers/provide
rational results/analytical support for product development/quality
control/ regulatory compliance. Prepare detailed reports on analytical
findings/ document procedures/maintain accurate records of all analyses.
